I can't really use the pregnancy as an excuse....or wait? Maybe I can? Anyways, long overdue on an entry here. Let's summarize:
PRENATAL: we are done our prenatal classes. They were incredible and we met some new friends that are all going to be parents at the same time as us. (incidentally, another couple has had their baby now too - Congrats to Manola, Francisco and new baby Ramona!) The teachers were so great that we even hired one of them (Aleksandra) to be our Doula. She is fantastic and will be just the support we need in this process.
MIDWIFE: This case was a little disappointing. Somehow didn't feel very taken care of and because I have nothing to compare to, come out a little perplexed. Long and short - we have opted to go with a highly recommended obstetrician who has already clarified some of the muddiness we were experiencing along the way here. Much due to too many different people at BC Women's Hospital and yeah - that EMMA girl (see previous posts) Still really don't understand the process we got dragged through. If one more person quoted me a different due date - I thought I might scream. It's amazing how many different interpretations we got of one situation over the course of a few months. It began to feel like a sitcom. I'm sure if we recorded it, it would prove for some really funny listening. Thank God Bill came with me to all of my appointments - otherwise I would have felt insane with all the conflicting information. It just goes to confirm how pro-active we all need to be in our own health care.
All is great. Not long now - we are on a solid track heading towards meeting our new baby. This weekend we went to Whistler to get away for a few days ( I had mild panic for a moment thinking "I could go into labour up here?") We had a fabulous dinner at the Bearfoot Bistro and stayed at The Westin. The last hurrah so to speak.
I have all of my new little baby things washed and put away on the shelf in their little baskets.(I am my mother's daughter after all!) Along with the cloth diapers (I know there are some of you that are dying to hear me go through with the cloth diaper thing.....you'll hear about it!) I have acquired yet MORE baby things from my good friend Jennifer. (Thanks JC!) I met with her and her son Cian at Little Nest, this amazing restaurant right by us designed for parents and little ones.
We have fabulous new patio furniture that my mom bought me for my birthday that I look forward to using this summer (of course it would have to actually get WARM!)
I think that sums up most of what's happening up to today? See the next post for a long overdue post about the insane baby shower my wacky tap students set up for me (you guys are crazy!)
Jennifer
