The First Ultrasound

So, gladly I didn't pee all over everyone in the lobby waiting for this ultrasound. They asked me to drink 32 oz of water. Two big glasses. Didn't really seem like that much....but all at once, knowing that you have to hold it in?.....YIKES! The worst thing was the water cooler in the waiting area. It seemed like everyone there took turns filling up (glug, glug, slosh....) Oh god, I seriously thought my bladder was going to rupture. The nurse barely formed a "J" and I was up and running down the hall right at her.

It turns out I really only needed to drink less than HALF of what they told me. My bladder was so full: Bill asked "What's that big black area?". And it was, indeed, my bladder. Now, have you ever had to go pee that bad and had someone specify how much you could let out? Yeah right, like that's gonna happen. Fortunately it was a fair amount and much of a relief.

The photo doesn't really look like much, but we actually saw fingers and a leg even extend. At one point we got a face on view and the skull looked like a miniature alien!

It was all very good to know that we weren't just imagining the whole thing and that I do, indeed have a small person starting inside me. I don't think anyone could ever realize how amazing the idea is until you go through it. It's crazy to think we were all that small. 5 cm!

Have a look.
